HISTORY: The Audi 80 Cabriolet, known at the time simply as the Audi Cabrio, was launched in Germany in the summer of 1991, arriving in Spain a few months later. It was based on the coupé of the same name. The four-ring brand had not offered a convertible in its range since the 1930s. After more than 50 years, Audi decided to offer its customers a car designed for pure enjoyment, to break with the prevailing trend and allow the driving experience to be lived from a different perspective.
The Audi 80 Coupé served as the basis for this elegant convertible, with particular attention paid to crucial aspects such as the soft top and body rigidity. The structural reinforcements required resulted in a weight increase of approximately 135 kilograms. Its dimensions were: 4,366 mm in length, 1,716 mm in width, and 1,379 mm in height. The platform featured a wheelbase of 2,554 mm and front and rear tracks of 1,453 mm and 1,447 mm respectively. Its certified weight was 1,350 kilograms.
Initially, the opening and closing mechanism of the fabric roof was manual, and very easy to operate even by a single person.
