BODYWORK: The car was originally finished in the attractive metallic “Palladium Grey”, which was factory-paired with the slightly lighter “Triennal Grey” on the roof. It has not been restored, but at some point in its life it was repainted in the pearl-effect white it wears today. Aside from the colour, the exterior is in a very original state, with only a set of black rubber side mouldings added on both flanks, very typical in the 1970s and 1980s to prevent knocks and scratches. The bodywork has just undergone a professional detailing and polishing treatment, although some imperfections remain, as it has never been restored.
MECHANICS: This unit corresponds to the DS 21 version introduced in 1965, which finally featured a 2,175 cc engine producing 106 DIN hp, following several years of criticism from the press and users regarding the lack of power of earlier DS versions. Wheel diameter was reduced from 400 to 380 mm, and the tyres were upgraded to the new asymmetrical-profile Michelin XAS, far superior to the older Michelin X. Together, these improvements made the DS 21 an unbeatable long-distance cruiser for its time, especially in terms of comfort and safety.
The mechanical components of this unit have just been fully overhauled by the specialist workshop “Paco Becerro”, including a large number of new parts: fuel pump, filler-neck rubber hose, power steering, front and rear spheres, fuel tank, four fully rebuilt hydraulic cylinders (front and rear), two rear suspension push rods, exhaust system, high-pressure pump, water pump, new stainless-steel coolant pipe, rebuilt pressure regulator, new accumulator, two dynamo belts, four spark plugs, fluids and a new Varta battery.
Additionally, the engine bay was completely dismantled and cleaned. The car now starts and runs perfectly, with all hydropneumatic systems ready for use. Only the electrical system remains to be checked. Invoices totalling more than €9,000 document the full mechanical refurbishment.
INTERIOR: Unrestored, but professionally cleaned and detailed. The natural light-brown leather still present in the cabin, despite some visible wear, could still be preserved.
DOCUMENTS: Original Spanish documentation.
HISTORY: First registered in the province of Badajoz in 1977, this “Shark” is in fact considerably older—by approximately ten years. This makes it a particularly interesting example. Despite spending many years out of use, the fact that it was stored in a dry place, covered and supported on sturdy wooden blocks, has preserved it in reasonable condition. The car has already been recommissioned by a renowned hydropneumatic-Citroën specialist and is now mechanically and hydropneumatically operational after its years of inactivity.
