HISTORY: Magnat Debon is one of France’s historic motorcycle manufacturers. Founded in 1893 by Joseph Magnat and Louis Debon in Lyon to produce bicycles, the company later relocated to Grenoble. In 1902 it began producing motorcycles equipped with both two- and four-stroke engines, and in 1923 it became a sub-brand of the major industrial group Terrot, occupying the lower segment of the market.
During the interwar period, the appeal of Magnat Debon lay in its range of touring models, identical to Terrot’s offerings from the previous season but available at a more affordable price. The side-valve machines built by the Grenoble manufacturer—such as this EST 350—were light, economical, and extremely reliable. This Magnat Debon BST Standard shares its general technical characteristics with its “sister” model, the Terrot HST. It has a maximum output of 9.3 hp at 4,300 rpm, a weight of 130 kg, and a top speed of 95 km/h.
The example offered shows an older yet competent restoration. It is in excellent condition and, with a simple mechanical check, is ready to return to running order.
