144 - NASH Advanced Six Convertible Glasser

On-site auction

Closing date

Starting price 19.000 €

BODYWORK: The beautiful bodywork by the German coachbuilder Gläser was fully restored and repainted around 20 years ago. The chrome is in very good condition, while the two-tone paint shows cracking in some areas and would require attention, although it still shines and presents well, as seen in the photos.

MECHANICS: It was fully restored and runs very well. It is ready to be enjoyed, although it has seen little use in recent years.

INTERIOR: The European influence of the coachwork extends into the cabin, designed for five passengers. The large, arched doors open to reveal individual front seats upholstered in beautiful beige leather. The door panels, rear seat, and carpet piping are finished in matching leather. The bold wood-grained dashboard is distinctly American, featuring Art Déco details and a beautiful rectangular central instrument cluster with a speedometer calibrated in kilometres. Other notable features include magnificent wooden door cappings. The black fabric convertible top is in good condition and is accompanied by a matching fabric boot cover.

DOCUMENTS: Registered in Spain as a Historic Vehicle, with all the advantages and exemptions this status provides.

HISTORY: This 1935 Nash Cabriolet is one of the very few Nash automobiles ever fitted with a body by an external coachbuilder. Even more unusual is the European origin of the coachwork, crafted by the prestigious Gläser-Karosserie GmbH of Dresden, Germany. The firm had a long tradition of producing high-quality bodies for prestigious marques such as Mercedes-Benz, Horch, and Steyr, among others. Gläser also bodied a select number of American cars, and the well-engineered Nash chassis was perfectly suited to their style and craftsmanship. It is believed that only 4 or 5 similar examples survive today.

This particular unit is thought to have come from France to Spain roughly 25 years ago. Its current owner acquired it and carried out a complete restoration around 20 years ago, and a photographic record of the restoration is included. A bold colour scheme in burgundy and red was chosen, with matching wheels and a tan interior to complement the car’s Art Déco origins.
