171 - NORTON Model 9 TT - JOSEP RAJA Collection -
On-site auction
Starting price 10.800 €
BODYWORK. Frame: tubular steel, single cradle. Front suspension: parallelogram fork. Rear suspension: rigid.
MECHANICS. Engine: single-cylinder, four-stroke. Displacement: 490 cc (79 x 100 mm). Transmission: belt drive, without gearbox or clutch.
DOCUMENTS: No documentation.
HISTORY: Although its side-valve single-cylinder engine is identical to that of the famous Model 16H, this Norton features a noticeably different frame. It is fitted with a belt final drive —without a gearbox— and a front brake similar to that of a bicycle. Production continued until 1922, although by its final years it was already considered somewhat outdated compared with its rivals.
The motorcycle offered here was restored several years ago and remains in admirably well-preserved condition. It is a truly fascinating piece due to its exceptional rarity, as very few surviving examples are known to exist today.
