BODYWORK: Designed by Zagato, the SZ carries the coachbuilder’s distinctive and highly personal signature throughout, most notably in the trio of headlights mounted on each side. All SZ examples were finished in the iconic Rosso Alfa with a Grigio Scuro roof. This unit remains in original, unrestored condition. Its main defect is a patch of rust located at the lower edge of the rear window, where it meets the boot lid.

MECHANICS: It is powered by a naturally aspirated 3.0-litre “Busso” V6 delivering approximately 213 hp to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission. This example has undergone a full service including fluid changes, timing belt replacement and complete refurbishment of the air-conditioning system, with invoices totalling approximately €7,000. It is ready to be enjoyed.

INTERIOR: Trimmed in tan leather, complemented by a dashboard, centre console, and upper door cards upholstered in black leather. Equipment includes a heated rear window, a three-spoke steering wheel bearing the Zagato Design logo, Veglia Borletti gauges, air conditioning and electric windows. Its good condition is consistent with the recorded mileage.

DOCUMENTATION: Registered as a Historic Vehicle in Spain, with all the exemptions and advantages that this status entails.

HISTORY: Presented at the 1989 Geneva Motor Show as the ES-30, or “Experimental Sportscar 3.0 litre,” the SZ (Sprint Zagato) was produced jointly by Alfa Romeo and Zagato between 1989 and 1991. This SZ is number 235 of only 1,036 examples manufactured. It was originally sold in the United Kingdom, although it was factory-built with left-hand drive. It was imported to Spain less than ten years ago, and its owner has preserved its original cosmetic condition while carrying out a complete mechanical overhaul.
