HISTORY: Introduced in 1969 to replace the /2 series, the BMW /5 became a commercial success. The /5 range comprised three versions of 500 cc (R50/5), 600 cc (R60/5), and 750 cc (R75/5) respectively. It retained the same general layout but featured a more advanced mechanical design and several improvements, including a 12-volt electrical system and electric starter. In its top specification, it produced 50 hp and reached a top speed of 175 km/h.
Today, it is a highly regarded classic, celebrated for its durability, reliability, and riding comfort. This first-series R75/5 (with large fuel tank and short swingarm) was registered in Barcelona in 1971 by its first and only owner, who used it regularly for travel and commuting while personally maintaining it. It has never been restored and remains in original condition, showing only 79,500 km and the natural signs of age and use.
