139 - CADILLAC LaSalle Model 328 Sedan
On-site auction
Starting price 20.000 €
BODYWORK: In very good condition, fully restored and finished in a beautiful period two-tone colour scheme with extensive and carefully executed white pinstriping. The four-door sedan body was built by the renowned coachbuilder Fisher.
MECHANICAL CONDITION: Powered by a robust and reliable flathead V8 engine. It starts and runs very well, offering strong performance by the standards of its era, and is ready to be enjoyed on the road.
INTERIOR: In original condition, still retaining the high-quality fabric with which it left the factory in 1929. It shows some age-related wear, but is best preserved in its authentic state.
DOCUMENTS: Registered in Spain as a Historic Vehicle, with all the associated advantages and exemptions. Notably, it carries the second historic registration number ever issued in its province.
HISTORY: Introduced in 1927, the LaSalle was conceived by General Motors to fill a perceived gap in its model range between Buick and Cadillac. Elegantly styled by Harley Earl, the LaSalle inspired GM to establish an independent “Art and Color” division, naturally under Earl’s direction. Built by Cadillac to the same high standards of quality, the LaSalle featured an advanced 303-cubic-inch V8 engine producing 75 horsepower and offering exceptional performance for its time.
By 1929, Cadillac introduced further technical improvements to the LaSalle, including synchromesh on second and top gears, as well as safety glass. Mechanical updates featured Duplex mechanical brakes, pressure lubrication for the piston pins, and the mid-year adoption of metric spark plugs.
Built in two wheelbase versions (125 and 134 inches), the 1929 LaSalle was available with a wide range of bodies, mostly by Fisher, although Fleetwood produced some of the more luxurious variants. On the 1929 models, all brightwork was chrome-plated and the parking lights were moved to the fenders.
This particular example spent much of its life in the United States, where it underwent a careful restoration before being imported to Spain around 25 years ago. It has since remained in the hands of the same collector, who has used and maintained it regularly.
