138 - JAGUAR E-Type 4.2 Roadster Series II
On-site auction
Starting price 45.000 €
BODYWORK: In very good condition; it was restored some years ago and has been very well preserved. It retains its attractive burgundy colour and chrome wire wheels. Even the tyres feature colour-matched sidewalls, a characteristic detail typical of units originally destined for the USA.
MECHANICAL CONDITION: In the second series of the legendary E-Type, the well-known XK engine featured ribbed cam covers and, on vehicles destined for North America, two Stromberg carburettors. These, together with their intake manifolds and a new Lucas ignition distributor, replaced the earlier triple SU carburettors, still standard on vehicles supplied to other markets—to ensure that the E-Type complied with the stringent United States emissions regulations. The example offered is in good running order and ready to be enjoyed. It holds a valid MOT.
INTERIOR: In very good condition. The seats retain their beige leather, which is also the original colour combination with which the car was built.
DOCUMENTATION: Registered as a Historic Vehicle, with all the exemptions and advantages that this status entails.
HISTORY: In 1968, all three versions of the E-Type underwent a major revision to comply with U.S. safety and emissions regulations, resulting in the “Series 2”, which dispensed with the distinctive headlamp covers of the original model. Larger side and rear lights were introduced, and a thicker central section of the front bumper integrated a larger radiator air intake. Interior changes included a collapsible steering column and rocker switches in place of the previous toggle switches.
This example was originally sold in 1970 in the state of New York, as evidenced by the original Jaguar certificate accompanying the car. It was imported into Spain in 2004 and has since been used regularly and maintained in optimal condition.
