HISTORY: The Chevrolet Corvair was a revolutionary compact car produced by Chevrolet, a division of General Motors, between 1960 and 1969. The first generation of the Corvair was introduced in 1959 as a 1960 model and featured a unique rear-mounted, air-cooled engine, independent suspension, and a unibody construction. The car was very well received by the public and was considered a strong competitor to imported models such as the Volkswagen Beetle. The second generation of the Corvair, produced between 1965 and 1969, incorporated major changes beyond the styling, including a redesigned suspension to improve handling and a range of new engine options.
