BODYWORK: It appears that this vehicle was originally painted in “Verde Júcar,” a colour from the Barreiros palette. It was later repainted red and finally restored, receiving the metallic beige colour it currently wears. The bodywork and trim show some imperfections that would benefit from restoration.
MECHANICAL CONDITION: It was also common for mechanical upgrades to be carried out by the Barcelona workshop. In this case, a Carter BBD twin-barrel carburettor was fitted, similar to those used on later Dart GT Linea 69 and 3700 GT models, along with front disc brakes, since the Linea 66 Darts —to which this unit belongs— originally left the factory with front drum brakes. More recently, power steering was added, and the car is fitted with a four-speed gearbox. The tyres are new and have seen very little use. The car was last started on 1/10/2024, but it will require a complete mechanical inspection before returning to the road.
INTERIOR: The interior was enhanced by Serra, featuring wood-effect inserts and a Nardi steering wheel, as was typical of Serra’s work. It was retrimmed in light-coloured leatherette during the restoration, which remains in good condition but still requires some final assembly adjustments to be fully completed. The convertible top features a hydraulic system for automatic operation, which appears to be of modern manufacture.
DOCUMENTS: The vehicle comes with original Spanish documentation and is also registered as a Historic Vehicle.
HISTORY: This fascinating and unique example was built in 1966 by Pedro Serra, commissioned by Ibero Italiana de Carrocerías S.A. The base car was a Dodge Dart Barreiros GLE with chassis number 2538-201474, and this unit was presented at the first Barcelona Motor Show (Salón Sector del Automóvil) in 1966. It is believed to be the only one built by Serra, as other similar vehicles registered at the time were actually original cabriolets manufactured by Dodge in the United States, imported by Barreiros along with a few Plymouth Barracuda units. After having disappeared for many years and with some parts disassembled, the car was recently rediscovered resting under blankets within a large private collection.
