HISTORY: After relying exclusively on four-cylinder engines for the previous decade and a half, Triumph opted for six cylinders to extend the life and enhance the performance of the acclaimed TR series. Redesigned in 1969 by Karmann of Osnabrück, the TR6 featured a wide front end and a squared-off rear. Beneath the bodywork, the chassis remained largely unchanged from its predecessor, the TR4A, with independent rear suspension, while the 2.5-litre fuel-injected engine also remained unaltered. Handling improved over the TR5 thanks to wider wheels and a front anti-roll bar. With a top speed of 193 km/h and strong acceleration, the six-cylinder TRs are undoubtedly the most exciting Triumphs ever built. They continue to enjoy a loyal following worldwide, supported by an excellent network of parts suppliers and specialists.
