HISTORY: For a brief period, from 1947 to 1956, the company Groupement Industriel Métallurgique Automobile (GIMA) manufactured a series of small- and medium-displacement motorcycles equipped with AMC four-stroke engines. Its first model was the Type 74, fitted with a 125 cc single-cylinder engine and a four-speed transmission, which already showed great promise with its telescopic fork, becoming the first French small-capacity motorcycle equipped with this system and the second brand after BMW. The success of this machine was meteoric. In 1949, a 125 cc GIMA took first place in its category in the 21st edition of the Bol d’Or, the demanding endurance race held at the Montlhéry circuit. The motorcycle offered in this auction was restored some years ago and, although it has not run for some time, it is in excellent condition. It is one of the lesser-known yet most interesting French popular post-war classics beyond its home country, highly sought after by collectors due to its short production run.
